Glen Valley Stables
Vancouver’s best horse trail rides - BlogMon, 12 Mar 2018 21:21:22 -0700WeeblyA blog post... about a blog post!Mon, 12 Mar 2018 20:16:19 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/march-12th-2018Fraser Valley Acreage Life recently asked us to write a blog post for their website and today, it went up. I'll put a link to it at the bottom but just so you don't miss anything, here's what it says:

There’s something about riding down a trail on a horse that just can’t be beat. You’re a little higher, up there in the saddle, than you were when you walked those same trails last summer with your kids and the dog, so maybe that’s it. Or perhaps it’s the gentle, rocking motion each footfall makes as you ease your way down the trail through shady trees and across open meadows. Or maybe you just always wanted to be a cowboy. Or cowgirl. (They’re both awesome dreams.) So if you want an adventure? Ride a horse… of course.

Owning a horse is expensive and time consuming and darn it, you forgot to learn to ride a horse that galloped across the plains, your hair flying in the wind. But that doesn’t mean your dream has to die. Glen Valley Stables has beautiful, safe horses that carry you down the long, winding trails of south Langley’s Campbell Valley Park at whatever pace suits your abilities, or lack thereof. The Stables does all the work – you just show up at your reserved time, give Traveller or Rio or Freckles a rub on the neck to say hi – and climb up into the saddle. Your friendly guide then leads you on either the Meadow Loop (1 hour), the Quiet Creek (1.5 hours) or the Cowboy’s Best (2 hours) ride.

It’s the stuff dreams are made of.

All you need to do is call or text 778-710-1941 to book your time in the saddle. Bring the whole family (the kids need to be at least 6 years old to ride) or your best friends.

In the meantime, visit Glen Valley Stables website and Facebook page for all the information you’ll need plus photos of Traveller, Rio, Freckles and all the other wonderful horses you get to call your own while you’re up there in the saddle, moseying on down the trail.

It’s a good life.

PilgrimWed, 22 Nov 2017 17:08:38 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/pilgrimI've posted this photo of Pilgrim before and when I came across it recently, I thought it deserved to be posted again. I took it on a snowy day last winter so it's not particularly fresh but it remains fabulous, just like the horse himself. It captures the intelligence and generosity of this wonderful gelding who has carried many guests over many miles for us here at Glen Valley Stables. Thank you, Pilgrim.
Friends ride in the fall weatherTue, 14 Nov 2017 19:22:01 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/friend-ride-in-the-fall-weatherThe whole weekend didn't get rained out - and we have proof! Here's a photo from Saturday of a Chilliwack rider and her Ontario friends who were out for a short visit. They were here for less than a week but they managed to fit in a trail ride. Smart women! (Horses are Freckles, Pilgrim and Traveller.) We'll still ride on dry days and let you cancel if the day you booked in advance is rainy - no charge.

And as always, you can see more photos of our pretty horses and fun rides if you follow us at the Glen Valley Stables Facebook page. See you there!
Two cowgirls are back in the saddleThu, 05 Oct 2017 15:24:39 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/two-cowgirls-are-back-in-the-saddleIt was the end of a fun ride for Gene and a couple of cowgirls who hadn't been in the saddle for a while! One of the women won a gift certificate at the Circle F Poker Ride fundraiser and bumped up her 1 hour ride to 2 hours for her and her sister - one hour wasn't going to be anywhere near long enough! That's Freckles on the left, Hank in the middle and Annie (with Gene, of course!) on the right.

This fall weather is perfect riding weather. Even if it's not as sunny as it was yesterday, the cool, crisp air is perfect for an outdoor adventure - particularly when you're on a horse! (PS - you can see more photos of our rides on our Facebook page as we post there more regularly than we do here. Check it out and follow us for fabulous photos of beautiful horses!)
A friend comes to rideTue, 05 Sep 2017 16:51:00 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/a-friend-comes-to-rideMy long-distance walking buddy, Karen, thought it would be a great idea to bring her "daughter" Carmen and her actual daughter, Eva, for a ride to celebrate Carmen's birthday. We thought it was a great idea too! Karen rode her own horse, Polly, while Carmen rode Annie and Eva rode Traveller. We sure had a lot of fun! Thanks for bringing the girls to ride with us, Karen! I hope we get to see them in the saddle again!
A beautiful rideThu, 24 Aug 2017 15:31:34 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/a-beautiful-rideMartina was in Vancouver for a conference this week but she skipped out yesterday afternoon (shush! don't tell anyone 😉) for a ride around the park on Traveller. We had a wonderful ride! Thanks, Martina, for riding with us here at Glen Valley Stables - Traveller and I both enjoyed the cantering!
Texas the big AppaloosaTue, 08 Aug 2017 16:18:14 GMThttp://glenvalleystables.com/blog/texas-the-big-appaloosaTexas is our big, brown Appaloosa gelding with a ton of personality. I thought I'd post a couple of recent pictures of the big guy. This first one is of him telling us he's EXHAUSTED from carrying a little girl on her one-hour ride (yeah, right!). Freckles and Pilgrim were along on that ride, too.

And this second one is on a ride yesterday with his best buddy, Rio.
